Internship

We offer students academic internships to Russian and international companies. Career fields include health care, journalism, law, international ventures, finance, investment, NGOs, and research. Our internship program provides students with practical international work experience, and at the same time immerses students in the ever-so-changing Russian business environment. You are given an insider’s view on Russian work ethics and how companies run and are managed in an unpredictable and very un-Western corporate society. Internships can lead to honors thesis research or future careers, and may also help fulfill university requirements.

In the Moscow work environment, experience is highly valued, and to some extent more so than a rigorous academic career. Expect to communicate with CEOs and foreign diplomats. Be ready to travel around Moscow reviewing the newest bars and restaurants. Or, find yourself facilitating discussion concerning Russian relations with foreign investors as part of a research proposal. Every job presents a distinct outlook on Russian business life and we hope you will gain the most out of this wonderful opportunity. Pasts students will agree that their internships in Moscow have been beneficial to their lives in the United States at a working standpoint, and also at a practical everyday level.

Students work 2-4 times a week for 3-4 hours a day. In most cases, internships are unpaid, and companies are flexible to meet students’ scheduling preferences. Students meet regularly with a mentor and discuss their experiences and observations in the Russian work force. Internship placements are offered on a case-by-case basis according to students’ skills and qualifications. Companies will read student resumes, cover letters, and conduct interviews to determine who to hire as an intern. If hired, an internship lasts for the duration of the program. In some cases, students are also eligible to extend their internship length past the program end-date.
